Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (Evens) vs Real Madrid (14/5)

We are backing the home win

When: Wednesday 6 April 2022, Kick-off 20:00

Where: Stamford Bridge

On Wednesday night, Chelsea and Juventus go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge in one of the Champions League quarter-final first legs.

Chelsea

The Blues head into this clash on the back of a shock 4-1 home defeat by Brentford in the Premier League. However, the defeat was Chelsea’s first in 14 matches in all competitions in 90 minutes. It also ended a six-game winning run in all competitions.

Thomas Tuchel’s team is still in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League once again next season though. The team from south west London are five points clear of fourth-place Tottenham, with a game in hand on their capital rivals.

When it comes to the Champions League, Chelsea have a strong recent record, as the European champions have lost just one of their last 11 matches in European football’s elite competition.

Tuchel’s team are also unbeaten in six matches in the Champions League, having recorded five victories in the process.

The Blues have turned Stamford Bridge into a fortress of late in the competition, winning their last five European games on home soil, without conceding a goal.

Real Madrid

Former Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti returns to his old stomp ground with his team in a commanding position in La Liga. Los Blancos are 12 points clear of second-place Barcelona and look to be heading for another Spanish title.

With the domestic title almost already tied up, the men from Madrid can now concentrate on the Champions League, a competition in which they are the most successful team ever, having lifted the trophy on 13 occasions.

Real Madrid have a strong recent record in the Champions League, winning five of their last six games in the competition. Los Blancos had to recover from a 1-0 first-leg loss against PSG in last-16, winning the second leg in Madrid 3-1 to book their place in the last-eight. The men from Madrid have been prolific in front of goal in recent Champions League games, scoring at least two goals in five of their last six matches in the competition.

Although the visitors have won three of their last four away matches in European football’s elite competition, they have also won just three of their last six matches on their travels in the Champions League.

Conclusion

This is going to be a tough tie for both teams. Chelsea recorded a 2-0 win over Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League semi-final second leg last season their way to lifting the trophy. We are backing the Blues to record another win in this clash. It could be another low-scoring clash, as Tuchel and Ancelotti do battle. Therefore, we are also backing under 2.5 goals scored.

Our Tips: We are backing the home win at evens and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
