On Sunday afternoon, Manchester City and Liverpool clash at the Etihad Stadium in what could be a mammoth game in the tight race for the Premier League title.

Manchester City

Just a few short months ago Manchester City looked set to cruise to the Premier League title, as they were runaway league leaders. However, some recent underwhelming results have led to the Citizens now holding just a point lead over the second-place visitors.

Despite what was been perceived as a poor recent run of form, the men from Manchester are undefeated in eight competitive matches, having won six of the eight matches. A 1-0 win over Spanish champions Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg was the Citizen’s third straight competitive victory.

City have also been impressive of late on home soil in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s team has recorded wins in eight of their last nine matches at the Etihad Stadium in the English top-flight. The English champions have also scored at least twice in five of their last six home games in the Premier League.

Liverpool

The visitors have certainly upped their game in recent weeks, as Jurgen Klopp’s team has now won their last ten games in the Premier League. The men from Merseyside have also won their last five matches in all competitions.

The visitors have been highly effective at both ends of the field in the Premier League of late. Liverpool has kept clean sheets in eight of their last ten league matches, while not conceding in their last five Premier League matches. At the other end of the pitch, the Reds have also scored at least twice in five of their last six league outings.

Liverpool also has a good recent away record in the English top-flight, as they have won their last four league matches on their travels in the Premier League. The Red’s potent attack has been on full display in recent away matches in the league, as Klopp’s team has found the net at least twice in five of their last seven games on their travels. They have also managed to shut out their last three opponents away from home in the English top-flight.

One negative for Liverpool is that they have won just one of the last eight meetings with the home team.

Conclusion

There could not be a bigger game than this in the fight for the English top-flight title. Both teams head into this game on the back of positive results in the Champions League. We find these teams hard to separate on current form, so we are backing the draw. The other bet we are backing is under 2.5 goals scored, as both teams have good defensive records and will not want to give anything away defensively.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 14/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
