Prediction and odds for the game: Bayern Munich (2/5) vs Dortmund (11/2)
We are backing Draw/Bayern Munich at odds of 15/4
When: Saturday 23 April 2022, Kick-off 17:30
Where: The Allianz Arena
On Saturday evening, Bayern Munich has the chance to seal their tenth straight Bundesliga title, as the Bavarians welcome second-place Dortmund to the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians head into this game with perennial rivals Dortmund nine points ahead of Marco Rose’s team. Even a draw would give Bayern the title, even if not mathematically due to their vastly superior goal difference.
Despite the doom and gloom of their quarter-final Champions League exit to Villarreal, Bayern still has a good recent record in the Bundesliga. In fact, the reigning German champions are on a run of four straight wins after a 3-0 victory at relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld. Unsurprisingly, the game saw Julian Nagelsmann’s team score at least three goals for the third time in four league outings.
Bayern Munich has a strong recent home record in the German top-flight, winning nine of their last 11 home games in the Bundesliga.
They have enjoyed the best of their recent meetings with Dortmund, winning the last seven meetings with BVB, while scoring at least two goals in six of the seven wins.
The visitors now know it is highly unlikely that they will claim the German top-flight title this season. A win in Bavarian would likely only be delaying Bayern from winning the Bundesliga title for another gameweek. In truth, BVB has missed several chances to capitalise on Bayern slip-ups this season and that has led to the Bavarians looking like winning the title in a relatively comfortable fashion.
Barring a miracle swing in goal difference to fifth-place Freiburg, Dortmund will be playing Champions League football next season.
Marco Rose’s team have been in decent form of late in the Bundesliga, as BVB a 6-1 home win over Wolfsburg last time out means that they have won six of their last nine matches in the German top-flight.
Dortmund has also been strong on their travels of late in the Bundesliga, as the visitors are seven games unbeaten away from home, having recorded a creditable five victories in the run. BVB have also been relatively prolific on their travels of late in the Bundesliga, scoring at least two goals in five of their last eight away games in the German top-flight.
Despite not enjoying a perfect campaign, Bayern Munich has once again proven to be the best team in the Bundesliga.
For our tips, we are backing Draw/Bayern Munich, as it offers better odds than just the home win and we believe that Dortmund may be able to subdue the Bavarians for the first half, but succumb to the pressure in the second period. We also fancy Erling Haaland to be an anytime goalscorer, as the Norwegian ended a short goal drought last time out by scoring a brace in the hammering of Wolfsburg.
Our Tips: We are backing Draw/Bayern Munich at odds of 15/4 and/or Erling Haaland to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 23/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
