Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (17/4) vs Chelsea (7/10)

We are backing draw/Chelsea at odds of 7/2

When: Sunday 1 May 2022, Kick-off 14:00

Where: Goodison Park

On Sunday afternoon, Everton and Chelsea go head-to-head at Goodison Park in a game that could be vital to the survival of the visitors in the English top-flight.

Everton

The Toffees dropped into the relegation zone last weekend and could find themselves as many as five points adrift of 17th place Burnley when this game kicks off. Frank Lampard’s team will have two games in hand on the Clarets. However, games in hand matter little when a team is not winning games.

The Toffees have won just two of their last ten matches in the Premier League, having also lost three of their last five games in the English top-flight.

Home advantage has brought them some home comfort of late, as they have taken seven points from their last three league matches on home soil. A 1-1 draw against Leicester ended a mini two-game winning home run in the English top-flight for Lampard’s team.

This weekend’s fixture could be decisive in the history of Everton Football Club, as it could play a big part in deciding if they will be plying their trade in the second tier of English football for the first time in close to 70 years.

Chelsea

The Blues are in third place in the Premier League table but have yet to seal their place in the Champions League for next season. However, with just five league games remaining, it seems unlikely that Thomas Tuchel’s team will let their eight-point lead on fifth-place Tottenham slip.

The visitor’s recent form has been slightly inconsistent, as Tuchel’s team has won just two of their previous five matches in the Premier League. Last time out, the team from south west London drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The draw continued a strong recent run of away results for Chelsea, as the Blues are now unbeaten in six league games on their travels. However, the draw at United also ended a run of four straight away wins for the visitors in the Premier League. Another run it ended was a run of goalscoring in away matches for the Blues, as they had scored at least three goals in their previous three league matches on their travels.

Conclusion

Everton’s hopes of maintaining their Premier League status rest on their home form, as the Toffee’s away record this season has been atrocious. Their recent home form has improved, but Chelsea may just have too much quality for the struggling men from Merseyside.

The away win offers little value though, so instead we are backing the draw/Chelsea, which offers a little more value. The other bet we are recommending is under 2.5 goals scored. Everton’s recent home games in the Premier League have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last five league matches at Goodison Park.

Our Tips: We are backing draw/Chelsea at odds of 7/2 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
