Prediction and odds for the game: Tottenham (23/20) vs Arsenal (9/4)

We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5

When: Thursday 12 May 2022, Kick-off 19:45

Where: The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

On Thursday night, Tottenham hosts Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in what is a massive north London derby when it comes to the race for the Champions League spots in the Premier League.

Tottenham

Antonio Conte’s team know that they need to record a victory in this clash to maintain their chances of finishing in the Premier League’s top-four this season. Spurs are currently in fifth place in the table and four points shy of their fourth-place opponents in the table.

Anything other than a win in this clash would make Tottenham qualifying for next year’s Champions League a major doubt. A recent record of one win in their last four league outings has not helped their chances of achieving a top-four finish this season. However, a 1-1 draw at title-chasing Liverpool last time out was a respectable result.

Tottenham has a strong recent home record in the Premier League, winning four of their last five home matches in the English top-flight while scoring at least three goals in each of the four home wins.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s team are within touching distance of making the top four. A victory in this local derby would seal the Gunners spot in the Champions League for next season.

The visitors head into this clash on the back of four straight league wins after a 2-1 victory over Leeds United last time out in the English top-flight. Arteta’s team has also found their shooting boots of late in the Premier League, having also scored at least two goals in each of those recent league wins.

Young forward Eddie Nketiah has hit a rich vein of scoring form of late, as he has now scored four goals in as many league games for the Gunners.

Arsenal has been relatively strong on their travels in the Premier League of late, as the visitors have won seven of their last nine away games. Their recent away matches in the English top-flight have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four away matches in the Premier League.

However, Arsenal has lost on five of their last six visits to Tottenham in all competitions. They will be hoping for better fortunes in their latest visit to their arch-rivals.

Conclusion

This is a massive local derby in the context of the race for the top-four places this season. It could be tense and tight, so we are backing the draw. The other bet is for Heung-Min Son to be an anytime goalscorer, as the South Korean international has scored six goals in his last five home games for Spurs.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5 and/or Heung-Min Son to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/8. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
