Prediction and odds for the game: Leeds (19/4) vs Chelsea (11/20)
We are backing Rodrigo to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 4/1
When: Sunday 21 August 2022, Kick-off 14:00
Where: Elland Road
On Sunday afternoon, Leeds hosts Chelsea at Elland Road in the Premier League, as both teams look to continue solid starts to the new league campaign.
The Yorkshire has kicked off the new campaign in a solid fashion, picking up four points from their opening two league games. They opened their season with a 2-1 home win against Wolves before a 2-2 draw at Southampton last time out. However, Jesse Marsch will be disappointed that his team threw away a two-goal lead at St Mary’s.
The positive start to the new campaign follows on from a decent end-of-season run. In fact, the Whites are now unbeaten in their last four games in the Premier League.
Leeds needs to improve their home record this season if they are to avoid another relegation battle in the current campaign. They have won just two of their last ten league games at Elland Road. The opening weekend victory over Wolves ended a four-game winless run on home soil in the English top-flight.
Like their hosts, Chelsea has also taken four points from their opening two games of the season. The Blues opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win at Everton before a stoppage-time Harry Kane goal denied them all three points against Spurs, with the fracas London derby finishing 2-2.
The draw against Tottenham at least means that Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games, having recorded three wins and three draws. The game produced another high-scoring encounter for the Blues, as four of their last six matches in the English top-flight have produced over 2.5 goals. That run includes Chelsea scoring at least twice in four of those matches.
Chelsea has a decent recent away record in the English top-flight, as they have won six of their last eight away matches in the Premier League. Defensive solidity has been a key factor in their recent good away form, as the Blues have kept five clean sheets in their last eight league matches on their travels.
Chelsea has an excellent recent record against Leeds, beating the Yorkshire team in five of the last six meetings between the pair in all competitions.
Leeds has made a decent start to the new campaign but looks vulnerable in defence. Chelsea will feel they should have taken maximum points against Spurs last time out. We can see Chelsea recording a win. However, our two tips are from the goals market.
The first one we are backing is over 2.5 goals to be scored, as Leeds are suspect in defence and have looked decent going forward so far this season. Chelsea’s attacking stars are likely to get the better of Leeds’ vulnerable defence.
The other bet we are backing is Rodrigo to be anytime goalscorer. The Spaniard seems to have had a new lease of life this season. The former Valencia star has scored three goals this season, and we are backing him to continue his scoring streak in this clash.
Our Tips: We are backing over 2.5 goals to be scored at odds of 4/6 and/or Rodrigo to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 4/1. (All odds are taken from Bet365)[geosnippet id=3620]
