Where: Al Bayt Stadium

France and Morocco will collide in the second of two semi-finals tomorrow night with the winner progressing to the World Cup final.

France

When the lights are on bright on the world stage, France have really been able to shine over the course of the last few years. In addition to being one of the most entertaining teams in world football, they also know what it means to win big knockout games at the World Cup. They are the reigning champions for a reason and if they’re able to continue on this trajectory, they’ll do what very few have been able to do.

They didn’t always make it look easy in the group stage but after looking impressive against Poland in the round of 16, Les Bleus struggled against England. They won the game but with Griezmann getting away without a red card and the referee making a string of bad decisions, you could argue this is exactly the kind of luck that has led them to the promised land both in Qatar and in Russia.

Morocco

The Atlas Lions are roaring towards the semi-finals of the World Cup and while it may not quite bring a tear to your eye, it certainly has to put a smile on your face. Morocco are the first African nation to get to this stage of the tournament and based on what they’ve achieved so far, it’s not a stretch to say they could genuinely go all the way and win it – creating a special kind of football history in the process.

Morocco didn’t make their group look easy but the fact they topped it should’ve been an indication that this was a different kind of team. They went on to look really strong against Spain over 120 minutes before knocking them out on penalties, setting them up for a clash with Portugal. In that encounter they were calm, composed, and managed to get the favourites out of there before extra time.

Conclusion

Some will say this is going to be a step too far for Morocco and while we do agree in terms of the end result, you just know they’re going to put up a mean fight. They have all the potential in the world to make this a night to remember and for around half an hour of the first half, we think they will.

Then, though, the French will begin to take over and get their attacking stars on the ball. They’ll go 1-0 up before the break and that should be that, sending them into a meeting with Argentina or Croatia.

Our tips (all taken from bet365): France/France (HT/FT) at 7/5 + under 2.5 goals at 4/6
