Paris Saint-Germain have sacked head coach Christophe Galtier according to reports in France today.
The 56-year-old was seen as the mastermind behind Lille’s incredible Ligue 1 winning campaign back in 2021, in which the huge underdogs pipped PSG to the title by a single point on the last day of the season.
Christophe Galtier fired by PSG
Following a year on the French Riviera with Nice, Galtier was offered the hot seat at the Parisians last summer after the departure of former player Mauricio Pochettino and despite personally winning a second Ligue 1 title in three years, the Frenchman has failed to convince fans and critics alike.
This season PSG have lost seven league matches; only finishing one point clear of Lens by the end of the season, and were comprehensively dumped out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich 3-0 on aggregate in the round of 16.
According to French news outlet Le Parisien, Galtier has already been informed of the decision with an official announcement expected to follow very shortly.
PSG will now focus on finding a replacement, with Napoli target Julian Nagelsmann reportedly the current frontrunner, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
