Bayern Munich will not sign former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea on a free transfer this summer.

As reported yesterday, the 32-year-old had given a move to the Bavarian capital the green light but according to German transfer guru Florian Plettenberg, the move is now officially off after Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel vetoed it.

David De Gea remains free agent

Despite talks with De Gea’s representatives, Tuchel was the deciding factor as to why the Spaniard will not be a Bavarian this season. Club captain and first-choice shot-stopper Manuel Neuer is reportedly only a few weeks away from first-team action and is continuing his rehabilitation away from the squad after breaking his leg during a skiing accident last year.

Tuchel remains in the hunt for a new goalkeeper, however, and is hoping to lure Stefan Ortega from Manchester City although that deal is also far from completion with Pep Guardiola unwilling to bid farewell to an excellent second-choice option in net with just a fortnight left of the summer transfer window.
