Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has decided to reject the opportunity to move to Chelsea and sign a new four-year deal at the club.

The move appears to be a huge U-turn by the gifted under-21 French international after it was earlier believed he had agreed personal terms with the Blues- who triggered the $44.5m release clause in his contract on Tuesday.

The news was announced this afternoon by Palace chairman Steve Parish who posted a photo of him alongside Olise and his new contract on the table via his social media platforms with the caption, “I’m absolutely delighted to announce Michael Olise has decided to commit his future to Crystal Palace Football Club and this afternoon signed a new four-year deal with the club.”

The news comes as a massive blow to Chelsea who had bagged on Olise being a key member of new manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans this season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Palace informed club lawyers of their intention to go to a Tribunal over Chelsea’s approach on the Olise move with the Blues alleged to have illegally tapped up the Eagles’ winger.
