Premier League champions Manchester City have announced the signing of Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes on a five-year contract.

Nunes becomes the Cityzens fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Jeremy Doku and arrives for a fee of $67.6m as revealed by Soccer Times yesterday.

The long-awaited transfer also sees young City central midfielder Tommy Doyle head the other way to Molineux on a season-long loan with a $6.3m option to buy at the end of the current campaign.

The news of Nunes’ arrival was confirmed by City’s official club website and speaking to the club’s in-house media, the Portuguese international said, “’m so happy to be joining Manchester City, the Champions of Europe and a club I’ve admired for a long time.

The opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest managers ever, and alongside some of the best players in the world was something I couldn’t turn down.”

Nunes will wear the vacant number 27 shirt at the Etihad Stadium- the same number he wore at Wolves.
