Out of contract David De Gea is set to be offered a lifeline by Real Betis as his search for a new club continues.

The former Manchester United and Spanish number one was displaced by Andre Onana in the summer by Red Devils head coach Erik Ten Hag and had a contract renewal retracted by club officials, leading to an acrimonious departure in July.

David De Gea set for Spanish switch?

De Gea’s bad luck continued when he was overlooked by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in their pursuit of short-term replacements for the injured Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer.

According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, De Gea’s patience could be set to pay off as he is now in talks with La Liga outfit Real Betis over a free transfer.

Manuel Pelligrini’s men looked as vulnerable as ever in their 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Barcelona on Saturday and after Rui Silva was substituted at half-time with an injury, Betis were left with inexperienced third-choice stopper Fran Vietes to face one of the most potent strikeforce’s in European football.
