Fantasy Football ones to watch season 2018/19 gameweek 24

|

The Premier League has reached gameweek 24 of the season, with all 20 teams enjoying games on either Tuesday or Wednesday night. Our gameweek 24 ones to watch for FPL produced mixed results, two scoring and two blanking. Here is our gameweek 24 ones to watch:

Ederson (Manchester City, £5.6m)

The selection of Manchester City’s number one is hardly a surprise. However, until recently the Citizens have not been that solid in defence. Pep Guardiola’s side has now kept clean sheets in their last six games.

Although Ederson did not play in all of those games, the numbers suggest that City are rediscovering the defensive solidity of last season. A trip to Newcastle on Tuesday looks like a big opportunity to collect another clean sheet.

There is also the small matter of a double gameweek 25 when the Citizens host Arsenal before a trip to Everton. The games are not the easiest in the world, but with Guardiola fond of squad rotation, Ederson looks like the most nailed on player to start both games.

Jan Bednarek (Southampton, £3.9m)

Southampton have been poor in defence this season. However, Ralph Hasenhuttl has meant that the Saints have sent more time attacking, which has relieved some of the strain on their struggling backline.

Bednarek is starting to show signs of promise and a home game against Crystal Palace in midweek, a team that struggles on their travels means the budget-friendly centre-back may just pick up a clean sheet. The fact that Southampton faces Burnley and Cardiff in the next three gameweeks makes Bednarek a very viable enabler and even starter for FPL teams.

Diego Jota (Wolves, £5.9m)

The Portuguese attacking midfielder has been played as a central striker at times in recent weeks, and he has excelled in his more advanced position. In fact, he has scored five times and produced two assists in his last five Premier League starts. The highlight being a hat-trick against Leicester in a 4-3 win in their last top-flight outing.

Jota enjoyed a difficult start to the campaign. However, he seems to have rediscovered the sort of form that made him such an important player for Wolves in the Championship. The visit to Molineux of West Ham on Tuesday night, a game the home side are favourites to win, plus good fixtures to come make the Portuguese star a must have FPL asset.

Fernando Llorente (Tottenham, £5.9M)

Some might scoff at the selection of Harry Kane’s temporary replacement at the top end of the pitch for the north London side. He scored an own goal in their last league outing, but also scored for Spurs in their 2-1 Carabao Cup 2-1 semi-final defeat at Wembley last time out.

He may miss chances, but he is a big danger for Spurs, who have some a nice run of four games in the Premier League starting with a home match against Watford on Wednesday night. The veteran striker is a real maverick choice and may only be a short-term option. However, he could turn out to be a superb differential in days when differentials are hard to come by.
