In Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off, Burnley host league leaders Liverpool at Turf Moor. The clash could prove to be the visitors, as the home side has made a mixed start to their Premier League campaign.
Burnley (Odds for victory 8/1)
The Clarets have made a mixed start to their Premier League campaign. Sean Dyche’s side kicked-off their season with a 3-0 win over Southampton before a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal and a last-gasp 1-1 draw against Wolves.
Everybody connected with the team from Lancashire will be quietly pleased with their season so far. In truth, they were unfortunate not to record a win at Wolves, as a 97th-minute equaliser from Raul Jimenez saved rescued a point for the Midlander’s.
The Clarets will know they have to improve their recent record of just one win in their last seven league games in the Premier League if they are to avoid a repeat of last season’s relegation scrap.
Striker Ashley Barnes has certainly tried his best to earn the Clarets maximum points this season, as he has already scored four times this season in the top-flight for Sean Dyche’s team.
The victory over Southampton on the opening weekend ended a two-game losing run at Turf Moor for Sean Dyche’s team in the Premier League. A record of three wins in their last seven league games at Turf Moor is not a great record for the Clarets.
Liverpool (Odds for victory 1/3)
Liverpool have opened the new Premier League campaign by recording all three of their top-flight games so far this season. Last time out the Reds recorded a 3-1 home win over Arsenal.
The win over the Gunners was the visitors 12th straight Premier League victory, having scored at least twice in all 12 league victories. Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently in the midst of a 20-game unbeaten game run in the top-flight.
Liverpool have been a tough team to beat on their travels in the Premier League of late, as the Reds are nine games unbeaten, having lost just once in their last 20 matches on the road. Klopp’s side are big favourites to record another victory in this clash.
There is no secret to Liverpool’s good recent away results, they are simply lethal going forward, scoring at least twice in the last five matches on their travels in the English top-flight.
Liverpool have started the current campaign like they finished last season by winning top-flight games. However, Klopp’s team have not been as solid this season as in the last campaign, as they have failed to keep a clean sheet this season. Barnes and could cause the Merseysider’s defence major problems.
Burnley may make life difficult for their north west rivals, but we still believe that Klopp’s side will have enough quality to come out on top. We also think that this game will be a high-scoring affair, so it could be prudent to back the over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/13.
Verdict: Away win at odds of 1/3 and/or over 8/13 (All odds from Bet365)
