Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund will clash later on this week in the latest fixture to feature in the entertaining Group of Death.
Inter Milan (13/10)
Inter have certainly been on an interesting trail throughout their last six games, constantly giving their fans reason to believe that they’re just not quite on the level of the truly elite clubs. With that being said they did manage to beat rivals AC Milan 2-0 before also seeing off the challenge of Lazio and Sampdoria, but when it came to Barcelona and Juventus, they were beaten 2-1 by both – bringing Conte’s men right back down to earth. In their last outing, however, they did win 4-3 against Sassuolo.
Goals have been the popular theme in many of Inter’s games over the course of the last few weeks and while that has caused a little bit of instability, it certainly does make for frequent visits over the 2.5 goal threshold. Conte seems to be trying to make a difference, but it’s going to take time.
Borussia Dortmund (21/10)
Borussia Dortmund are in a constant battle with themselves, and Bayern Munich, to try and get back to the heights they were once at. In their last six games they’ve developed a tendency to allow things to slip through their fingers, securing just two wins in that time. Those two wins were certainly valuable and came against Borussia Monchengladbach and Slavia Prague, but a bit more consistency is certainly required. They wound up drawing their other four games against Freiburg, Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Barcelona – the latter of which was probably considered to be a good result.
Dortmund fluctuate back and forth between dull games and ones that are ever so slightly more energetic, but when push comes to shove, hedging our bets and going for the over 2.5 seems like the best foot forward. Now, finding the balance defensively and in an attacking sense needs to be the priority.
This game has the potential to be one of the best meetings of the entire group stage, because let’s face it, these two sides are probably going to be battling it out for the right to finish in second place behind Barcelona. Even if that’s not the case, they’re going to scratch and claw as if it is. We’re backing Inter to grab a late winner in what will almost certainly be a game full of goals and drama, with the fact that it’s being held at the San Siro taking them over the line.
They both have a tendency to score for fun, and we can’t imagine this game is going to be any different. That’s why we’re backing the over 2.5 goals in what should be a thrilling affair.
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 13/10 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from bet365).
