On Friday night, PSG host last season’s Ligue One runners-up Lille at the Parc des Princes, as the reigning French champions look to extend their lead at the top of the table.

PSG (Odds of 1/5 for victory)

The French champions have already opened up a gap of eight points at the top of Ligue One. It looks like season 2019/20 will be another one of PSG dominance in the French top-flight. Thomas Tuchel’s side has not been imperious so far this season in Ligue One though, as they have already suffered three defeats. To be fair the Parisians have won their other ten league games.

The home side has been prolific of late in the French top-flight, netting at least twice in four of their last five matches in Ligue One. Their free-scoring ways have contributed to their last five league outings producing over 2.5 goals.

Their star-studded attacking players have been in fine form this season. Tuchel has rotated his forward options, yet Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi have scored five league goals each, while Neymar has found the net on four occasions. None of the forwards has made more than seven league appearances this season.

PSG have a strong recent home record in Ligue One, winning 22 of their last 25 league matches on home soil while suffering just one defeat. The home side has put in some highly impressive defensive displays of late, keeping six clean sheets in their last seven home matches.

Lille (Odds of 9/1 for victory)

The visitors may have finished last season as runners-up to PSG, but this season they have been highly unconvincing and inconsistent. Christophe Galtier’s team are currently fifth-place in the Ligue One table, having won just once in their previous six league outings.

Their recent Ligue One matches have been good for the neutral when it comes to goals, as four of the last five league matches have produced over 2.5 goals. A 0-0 draw at home against Metz last time out ended the run of high-scoring matches.

Lille have not won on their travels in the French top-flight in ten games, dating back to April. The visitors have picked up just two points from six away matches this season. They have suffered 2-1 defeats at Toulouse and Marseille in their last two away games in Ligue One.

Galtier’s team have kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 Ligue One away matches. Considering PSG’s firepower that record is highly unlikely to improve in the French capital.

One positive for Lille this season has been the form of young Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, as the 20-year-old has scored seven times in 13 Ligue One appearances this season.

Conclusion

PSG are a cut above the rest of Ligue One and this game looks set to be another comfortable win for the home side. Backing the home win offers no value. Even the over 2.5 goals scored offers little value. However, the over 3.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10 is slightly more appealing. Backing PSG at odds of 4/6 to be winning at the half and full-time whistle is also a decent punt.

Verdict: Back the over 3.5 goals at odds of 11/10 and PSG to be winning at the half and full-time whistle. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
