Prediction and odds for the game: Brentford (29/20) v Leeds (19/10)

We are backing the home win

When: Tuesday 11th February 2020, Kick-off 7:45 PM

Where: Griffin Park

On Tuesday night, Brentford host Leeds at Griffin Park in what could be a massive game in the race for promotion from the Championship.

Brentford

The Bees are enjoying a strong season in the English second tier. In fact, a victory for the fifth-place home side would see them leapfrog second place, Leeds, in the table. Depending on results elsewhere it could see Thomas Frank’s team move into the automatic promotion spots.

Brentford have overcome a small dip in form in January to maintain their promotion challenge. In fact, the home side has now won five of their last seven outings in the English second tier.

The Bees have built their promotion push on their attacking prowess, as only league leaders West Brom have scored more Championship goals this season. Striker Ollie Watkins has been on fire, scoring an impressive 20 goals in his 31 league appearances this season.

Another important factor in Brentford promotion push has been their home form, as the Bees have won seven of their last eight matches in the Championship. Goals have again been the order of the day in home games for Franks’ team, as they have scored at least twice in five of their last seven matches.

Leeds

The visitors are somehow clinging on to the second promotion spot, despite a woeful recent run of Championship form. A 2-0 defeat at promotion rivals Nottingham Forest last time out means that Marcelo Bielsa’s team have suffered losses in four of their last five league outings.

A record of just two wins in their last ten outings in the second tier is certainly not a record a team destined for promotion from the second tier. A lack of goals has had a big effect on the visitor’s recent league form, as the Whites have scored in just one of their last five Championship outings.

The visitors will be concerned that this season will be a case of history repeating, as the Whites looked good for promotion for much of last season before failing to go up.

Bielsa’s team have failed to shine on their travels of late in the Championship, having won just once in five away matches, having suffered two straight league defeats away from home.

Conclusion

This match could prove to be pivotal in both team’s promotion hopes. The pair head into this clash in contrasting form, which is why we are backing the in-form home side in this clash. However, we believe this will be a relatively tight game, so we are backing the under 2.5 goals scored, especially with Leeds recent poor record of goal scoring.

Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 29/20 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5 (All odds are taken from Bet365).
