On Friday afternoon, Belshina Bobruisk and Gorodeya kick-off gameweek three of action from the Belarus Premier League. Both teams are looking to pick up their first points of the season after poor starts to their campaigns.

Belshina

The home team have made a poor start to the new league campaign. They have lost their opening Premier League matches against Minsk and last time out Torpedo BelAZ.

The poor form is just a continuation from their last spell in the top-flight, as the home side now head into this encounter on a run of nine games without a top-flight victory. To be fair to the new boys, their last spell in the Belarus top-flight was back in 2016.

Belshina will need to improve their home form if they are to have a chance of avoiding a quick return to the second tier of the game in Belarus. Their opening day 3-1 defeat against Minsk means they are winless in seven league matches. Although many of their home games were in the distant past in the Premier League, it is still worth noting that six of their last eight matches on home soil have produced under 2.5 goals.

Gorodeya

Just like the home side, Gorodeya have kicked off their season with back-to-back defeats. The visitors followed up a 1-0 defeat at Vitebsk with a 2-0 home defeat against Shakhtyor last time out.

It seems not much has changed for the visitors since last season, as they ended the last campaign on a three-game winless run. Their poor run at the end of last season and their bad start to the new campaign means that Gorodeya have suffered four straight league defeats, having failed to win in five outings.

A low-scoring trend for the visitor’s games has also continued from last season, as five of their last six matches have produced under 2.5 goals. The fact that the visitors have yet to find the net in their opening two games has contributed to that trend.

Gorodeya have been inconsistent on their travels in the league of late. However, a record just two wins from their previous seven games is not exactly a stellar one. The visitors have not helped their cause on the road either by their impotent attacking displays, as they have now failed to score in their last three away games. This game is a good opportunity to break that duck.

Conclusion

Both teams have made poor starts to their campaigns in the Belarus Premier League. It seems hard to see either side winning, which is why we are backing the drawn in this clash. Neither of these teams are great in front of goal, so we are also backing the under 2.5 goals.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5 and/or the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 1/2. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
