Prediction and odds for the game: RB Leipzig (3/10) v Hertha Berlin (5/1)

We are backing over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 2/5

When: Wednesday, 27th May 2020, Kick-off 17:30

Where: The Red Bull Arena

On Wednesday evening, RB Leipzig hosts a revitalised Hertha Berlin at the Red Bull Arena, as the home side look to aid their chances of landing a lucrative Champions League spot in the Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig

Die Roten Bullen head into this game on the back of a Timo Werner-inspired 5-0 hammering of Mainz. The highly-rated forward scored a hat-trick to take his tally of league goals to 24 for the season.

The victory was a much-needed one, as earlier in the weekend Julian Nagelsmann’s team had slipped out of the top-four. The victory in Mainz propelled them back up to third place in the table. The home side will need to continue to pick up results if they are to remain in the Champions League spots.

The win at Mainz ended a run of three-straight draws for Leipzig in the Bundesliga, which has all-but killed off their hopes of landing a maiden German top-flight title.

The fact that they have drawn three of their last four league matches at the Red Bull Arena is also a reason for the home side slipping seven points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

Hertha Berlin

The team from the capital seem to have rediscovered their best form of late. Not only have they won their first two league games under new boss Bruno Labbadia, but they are also unbeaten in four league outings. Last time out Hertha cruised to a 4-0 home victory over Union in only second ever top-flight Berlin derby. The win saw Hertha score at least twice for the four consecutive Bundesliga game.

The team that looked to be set for a relegation fight are now just five points off the European spots. It has been an amazing turnaround for a team that is now on their fourth head coach of the season. Hertha could not make a late run for the top-six, with many of the teams directly above them in inconsistent form in recent months.

Hertha have been strong away from home of late in the Bundesliga. They are currently undefeated in six league matches on the road, having recorded four wins and two draws. The visitor’s eye for goal has been impressive in those away games, as they have scored at least twice in five of the six matches.

One negative for Hertha is that they have won just one of the last seven meetings with RB Leipzig, suffering six defeats. Could the visitors about to change history?

Conclusion

Both teams will head into this game high in confidence after big wins last time out. Hertha have been in form and could cause the home side some big problems. We think the home side will come out on top. However, we are backing over 2.5 goals scored and both teams to score, as there appear to be very few value bets in this clash.

Verdict: We are backing over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 2/5 and/or both teams to score at odds of 8/13. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
