Prediction and odds for the game: Hoffenheim (5/1) v RB Leipzig (9/20)

We are taking a punt on the draw at odds of 4/1

When: Friday, 12th June 2020, Kick-off 19:30

Where: The PreZero Arena

On Friday night, Hoffenheim host RB Leipzig at the PreZero Arena in what could prove to be a fascinating Bundesliga clash.

Hoffenheim

The home side head into this clash in decent form, as they are are now four league games unbeaten. Last time out in the top-flight they drew 2-2 at relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf. The recent undefeated run has kept the home side in the hunt for the European spots this season. In fact, they are now just two points outside the top-six in the Bundesliga. A victory in this clash would certainly help them in the chase for European football for next season.

Hoffenheim have been poor on home soil of late in the Bundesliga, winning just three of their last ten games at the PreZero Arena. They have also lost five of their last eight home matches in the German top-flight. The fact that Hoffenheim have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last ten league matches on home soil has not helped their chances of picking up home results.

The home side have a poor recent record against the visitors, failing to beat them in four meetings while suffering three losses.

RB Leipzig

Julian Nagelsmann’s team are third-place in the Bundesliga but have been highly inconsistent since returning from the break. Die Roten Bullen are undefeated in 11 matches in the German top-flight. However, seven of those undefeated matches have resulted in draws. In fact, five of the visitors last seven matches have ended all square.

The draws have not helped Leipzig’s chances of nailing down a spot in next season’s Champions League. They are currently only three points clear of Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Leipzig’s recent league matches have been relatively high-scoring, with over 3.5 goals scored in three of their last four games. Both teams have also scored in four of their last five Bundesliga matches.

The visitors have a decent recent away record in the German top-flight, as they are undefeated in five league matches on their travels. They have won three and drawn two of those undefeated games. The visitors have been highly effective at both ends of the pitch on their travels, keeping four clean sheets in five matches, while scoring at least four times in three of their last four away matches.

Conclusion

Both teams are in decent league form heading into this clash, so it is difficult to decide between the pair. With that in mind, we are backing the draw, as both teams have drawn a lot of games of late. The other bet we are backing is both teams to score.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 4/1 and/or both teams to score at odds of 1/2. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
