Prediction and odds for the game: England (7/4) vs Belgium (6/4)

We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10

When: Sunday, 11th October 2020, Kick-off 17:00

Where: Wembley

On Sunday evening, England and Belgium go head-to-head at Wembley in what promises to be an intriguing encounter in Group A2 of the Nations League.

England

Things look to be moving in a positive direction for Gareth Southgate’s team, as they head into this game six matches unbeaten having recorded five victories. A 3-0 friendly win over Wales last time out means that the Three Lions have not conceded in their last six international outings.

Another positive for the home team is that they are unbeaten in the Nations League in 90 minutes, as their only defeat in six games came in a 3-1 extra-time defeat against the Netherlands in the semi-final of the inaugural tournament. Southgate’s team has taken four points from their opening Nations League this time around. They produced a rather lacklustre display in a goalless draw against Denmark.

England are renowned for their form at Wembley and the current edition of the Three Lions team has recorded eight straight victories. The Three Lions have been prolific on home soil of late, scoring at least two goals in their last seven games. At the other end of the pitch, they have kept clean sheets in four of their last five home matches.

Belgium

Last time out Belgium drew 1-1 with the Ivory Coast in a friendly international. The draw ended a 12-game winning run for Roberto Martinez’s team. However, the Red Devils are still 13 matches undefeated since suffering a 5-2 defeat against Switzerland in November 2018 in this competition.

The visitors have been prolific in front of goal in recent matches, having scored at least two goals in 13 of their previous 14 international games. The Ivory Coast draw ended a run of 13 straight games of scoring at least twice for Martinez’s team.

Unsurprisingly, Belgium have won five of their six games in the Nations League, while scoring at least two goals in all of their games in the newly established competition.

The Red Devils have won their previous five matches on their travels in all competitions, having scored at least twice in all the victories. Martinez’s team has also scored at least twice in all three of their away games in the Nations League.

Belgium are without first goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who is unfit to start, while Napoli forward Dries Mertens was unable to join up with the squad due to quarantine issues.

Conclusion

We believe that this could be a relatively tight game with both teams in good form of late, so we are backing the draw. The other bet we are recommending is both teams to score, as both teams are potential in attack.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10 and both teams to score at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
