On Friday night, gameweek seven of the Premier League kicks off with Wolves hosting Crystal Palace at Molineux. That means the deadline for FPL is pushed forward to Friday. We enjoyed mixed fortunes in gameweek six with our predictions, with Danny Ings our highest points scorer. Let’s see if we can improve on our points haul this week. Here are our gameweek seven FPL picks:

Edouard Mendy (Chelsea, £5m)

The Frenchman heads into Saturday’s match at Burnley on the back of three clean sheets for the Blues. He has added a calmness to Chelsea’s defence that seemed missing with expensive Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in-between the posts for Frank Lampard’s team.

With a decent run of fixtures to come and a price tag of £5m, Mendy looks like a very shrewd goalkeeping option for those that do not want to go down the route of a budget goalkeeper.

Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea, £7.9m)

The Moroccan international has had a difficult start to life with the Premier League club, as injury has prevented him from seeing much action. However, the former Ajax star now seems to be back to fit after appearing as a substitute in the last two Premier League games. Ziyech started Wednesday night’s Champions League game against Krasnodar, which he scored in a 4-0 victory.

The goal and 80 minutes run out will have boosted Ziyech’s prospects ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burnley. He may be a slight punt, but if the winger hits the same heights as he did at Ajax, then he could prove to be a good FPL option in the long-term too.

Patrick Bamford (Leeds, £5.9m)

This seems like a no-brainer pick after the forward’s hat-trick against unbeaten Aston Villa last time out.  The 27-year-old seems to be more deadly in the top-flight than he was in the Championship. The former Chelsea ace has now scored six times in as many Premier League games this season.

He comes up against a Leicester defence that has kept just two clean sheets in their previous eight matches in the Premier League dating back to last season. The way Bamford and his team are playing it would be unwise to back against the forward adding to his goal haul this weekend.

Michail Antonio (West Ham, £6.3m)

The West Ham forward is a player who never gives the opposition a minute of peace, harrying and harassing them, while also being a major aerial threat in open play and from set-pieces. At £6.3m, the versatile Antonio seems to be one of the more intriguing mid-range forward options. He has already scored three league goals this season, including a superb bicycle kick against Manchester City last time out.

This weekend the Hammers visit reigning Premier League champions Liverpool. In normal circumstances, David Moyes’ team may fear a trip to Anfield. However, these are not normal circumstances, Jurgen Klopp’s team has a defensive crisis, with the likes of Van Dijk, Joel Matip and even stand in centre-back Fabinho all struggling with injuries. There is one small caveat to our pick of Antonio in that he is a slight injury doubt. It may be worthwhile monitoring Moyes press conference ahead of the game.
