Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (8/15) vs Crystal Palace (11/2)

We are backing over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5

When: Thursday, 14th January 2020, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Thursday night, Arsenal will look to continue their recent good form in the Premier League, as the Gunners host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal

Things have certainly started looking up for Mikel Arteta and his young team. The Gunners are looking to make it four straight wins in the top-flight after victories over Chelsea, Brighton and West Brom. The team from north London also booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend by beating Newcastle 2-0 in extra-time.

One of the keys to Arsenal’s recent improvement is that they have now kept two straight clean sheets in the Premier League. At the other end of the field, things seem to be coming together too, as last time out the home side hammered West Brom 4-0 at the Hawthorns.

Arsenal have a poor recent home record in the top-flight, winning just one of their last six league matches on home soil while suffering four defeats. However, a 3-1 win over Chelsea in their last home match in the top-flight ended a five-game winless run at the Emirates Stadium.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles have won just two of their last nine matches in the Premier League. A 2-0 home win over Sheffield United ended a five-game winless run for Roy Hodgson’s team in the top-flight. However, the visitors followed that win up by losing 1-0 at Wolves in the FA Cup third round.

The win in their last Premier League game ended a run of 15 league matches without a clean sheet for the visitors. Only Leeds and West Brom have conceded more goals than Palace this season in the Premier League.

The Eagles away form has been poor of late, as they have won just one of their previous five league games on their travels while suffering three defeats in the process. A lack of clean sheets has hampered the visitors away from home of late, as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 matches on their travels in the top-flight.

One positive for Palace is that they have taken four points from their last two visitors to the Emirates. The visitors have also scored at least twice in each of those visits.

Conclusion

On recent form, this should not be a contest. However, the odds for the home win are not great. Therefore we have decided to look at the goals market instead. Our first recommendation is Bukayo Saka to be an anytime goalscorer at of odds of 15/2, as the youngster has shown in recent weeks.

The other bet we are backing is over 2.5 goals, as Arsenal to have found form in front of goal and Palace have been poor defensively this season.

Verdict: We are backing over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/5 and/or Bukayo Saka to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/2. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
