Prediction and odds for the game: Bayern Munich (2/11) vs Wolfsburg (12/1)

We are backing Serge Gnabry to be an anytime goalscorer at 6/4

When: Friday 17 December 2021, Kick-off 19:30

Where: The Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich

When it comes to getting results in the Bundesliga, reigning German champions Bayern Munich are masters. The Bavarians have once again dominated the German top-flight, even though they haven’t been at their best in the current campaign. They currently sit atop of the Bundesliga table; six points clear of second-place Dortmund.

A 5-0 away win at Stuttgart last time out in the Bundesliga means that Julian Nagelsmann’s team has now recorded victories in eight of their previous nine matches in the German top-flight, including winning their last four games in the league.

Bayern have been prolific in front of goal this season, as they are currently the top scorers in the Bundesliga. The champions head into this game having scored at least two goals in seven of their previous nine games in the German top-flight.

The men from Munich are formidable opponents at the Allianz Arena, as they have won ten of their last 11 Bundesliga matches on home soil.

Bayern also have a stellar recent home record against Wolfsburg, as they have beaten the Wolves in 23 of the last 24 home meetings in all competitions.

Wolfsburg

After a bright start to life under new head coach Florian Kohfeldt, the Wolves form has nosedived worrying in recent weeks. A 3-2 home defeat against Koln last time out means that the visitors have now lost their previous six games in all competitions. They have also failed to win in eight matches.

The loss last time out also means that Wolfsburg are winless in five Bundesliga games, having suffered four straight defeats in the process. The main factor in the team’s latest poor form is their leaky defence, as the Wolves have conceded at least two goals in their last five league matches.

Wolfsburg’s recent poor away form will also be a worry, as the Wolves have won just one of their previous five league games on their travels, suffering three defeats in the process. They have also conceded at least two goals in four of those five recent away matches in the Bundesliga.

The fact that Bayern have scored at least two goals in 20 of their last 22 home matches against the Wolves does not mode well for Kohfeldt’s team’s chances of picking anything up from their trip to Bavaria.

Conclusion

This could be a highly painful trip to Bavaria for Wolfsburg. They are playing poorly and leaking goals at an alarming rate. When a team is in that sort of form, Bayern are the last opponent you want to face.

The home win offers little value in this clash, though. Instead, we are looking at the goals market and backing winger Serge Gnabry to be an anytime goalscorer. He was in top form last time out scoring a hat-trick and we fancy him to score again in this clash. The other bet is for both teams to score, as Wolfsburg do possess an attacking threat and we all know about Bayern’s attacking prowess.

Our Tips: We are backing Serge Gnabry to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4 and/or both teams to score at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
