Prediction and odds for the game: Burnley (11/8) vs Everton (2/1)

We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10

When: Sunday 26 December 2021, Kick-off 15:00

Where: Turf Moor

On Boxing Day, Burnley host Everton at Turf Moor in what could be a massive game for the home team’s chances of Premier League survival.

Burnley

The Clarets have endured another difficult Premier League campaign and Sean Dyche’s team currently sit in the last relegation spot in the English top-flight. The north west outfit have won just one of their last 18 league matches dating back to last season.

The Clarets have also failed to win in their previous five Premier League outings, although four of their winless matches have finished in draws. Last time out, Sean Dyche’s drew 0-0 with West Ham at Turf Moor. It was a typically low-scoring for the home side, as six of their last nine matches in the Premier League.

The fact that Burnley are the league’s second-lowest scorers in the Premier League is likely a big factor in those recent low-scoring affairs. The Clarets also have the best defensive record outside of the leagues top eight teams.

Everton

The Toffees have been woeful in recent months, picking up just one Premier League victory in the last one of their last 11 league matches. However, a 1-1 draw at Chelsea last time out was achieved with a mixture of fringe players and youngsters. The result should lift spirits in a camp that has been all doom and gloom of late.

The poor run of form has seen the Toffees slip dangerously towards the relegation zone. However, the visitors are still eight points clear of the Clarets, although they do have two games in hand on Rafa Benitez’s team.

One of the factors in Everton’s poor recent form has been woeful results on their travels, as the Toffees are now winless in their previous seven away matches in the Premier League.

To make matters worse, five of those seven winless games have ended in defeat. Poor performances in defence have been at the heart of their recent poor away games, as the Toffees have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten league matches on their travels.

The men from Merseyside could enjoy a big boost with striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin back in training. The England international could return to the starting line-up, as the Toffees are still without Brazilian forward Richarlison.

Conclusion

Both teams head into this clash in need of a victory, maybe Burnley more than the visitors. However, we are backing both to be frustrated and the game to finish in a draw. Burnley’s recent games have been typically low-scoring and we are backing this game to produce another low-scoring game, especially if Calvert-Lewin misses out for the visitors.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at 23/10 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
