Prediction and odds for the game: Brighton (evens) vs Crystal Palace (3/1)

We are backing the home win

When: Friday 14 January 2022, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The Amex Stadium

On Friday night, Brighton and Crystal Palace go head-to-head at the Amex Stadium, in an intriguing Premier League clash.

Brighton

The Seagull’s form has picked up of late. However, Graham Potter’s team needed extra time to see off Championship West Brom in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend.

The eventual victory over the Baggies followed a three-game unbeaten run for the home team, including wins over Brentford and Everton, plus a creditable 1-1 draw at European champions Chelsea. The Seagulls recent form has been enough to move them into the top half of the table. However, they are still six points adrift of sixth-place Tottenham.

Brighton’s home form in the Premier League has been inconsistent of late. However, the victory over Brentford ended a five-game winless run in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium. The game did continue a low-scoring trend in the Seagulls recent home matches in the Premier League, as it was the fourth straight game on home soil to produce under 2.5 goals.

Brighton will be without influential central midfielder Yves Bissouma for this clash. The 25-year-old is at the African Cup of nations with Mali.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles recent form has not been great in the Premier League, as Patrick Vieira’s team has won just once in their last four league games. Last time out in the English top-flight, the visitors suffered a 3-2 home defeat against London rivals West Ham.

There was a positive for Palace from the defeat against the Hammers, as the game saw them score at least two goals for the third time in four league matches. Their recent league matches have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in the last five outings in the English top-flight.

Palace have been slightly travel-sick of late in the Premier League, as they have failed to win in four away matches in the English top-flight. A 3-0 defeat at Tottenham in their last away match in the league saw their third straight away loss and the Eagles fail to score for a third straight away game on their travels.

Palace will be light in attack, with forwards Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew both at the African Cup of Nations along with the versatile Cheikhou Kouyate.

Conclusion

A rivalry has been built between these two teams in recent years. This is a game that both sets of fans look forward to. We fancy this to be a pretty tight game, especially as both teams are missing players. We are backing the home side to record a narrow victory in a low-scoring encounter.

Our Tips: We are backing the home win at evens and under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
