Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (2/1) vs Tottenham (13/10)

We are backing the away win

When: Wednesday 19 January 2022, Kick-off 19:30

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Wednesday night, Leicester host Tottenham at the King Power Stadium, as both teams look to further their objectives in the Premier League.

Leicester

The Foxes campaign has been littered with injuries and postponements. Brendan Rodgers team is yet to play a Premier League game in 2022 due to postponements. Their last league action came at the end of December, when the men from the Midlands recorded a 1-0 home win over Liverpool, despite fielding a weakened team.

Leicester’s only game of 2022 was an FA Cup third-round clash with Watford, which resulted in the Foxes recording a comfortable 4-1 win.

The home side’s recent league form has been inconsistent, as they won just three of their previous nine games in the top-flight. However, despite that mixed recent record, the Foxes are still in touch with the European spots in the Premier League. They trail fourth-place West Ham by 12 points, although they have four games in hand on David Moyes outfit. Had they played some of their recent postponed matches they may well be much higher up the table.

Tottenham

Just like the home team, Spurs have been the victim of postponements in recent weeks. The North London derby against Arsenal scheduled for last Sunday was postponed, much to the annoyance of many connected with Spurs.

The visitors only league game of the year came on New Year’s Day when Antonio Conte’s team recorded a last-gasp 1-0 win at Watford. Since then, they have suffered defeats by Chelsea in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final, while also claiming a 3-1 win over lower league Morecambe in the FA Cup third round.

Back in the Premier League and Spurs are still very much in the fight to claim that final Champions League spot in the Premier League. Conte’s team is four points behind West Ham, but like Leicester, have four games in hand on their London rivals.

Former Chelsea head coach Conte is currently undefeated in the English top-flight as Spurs boss. He has managed the north London team in eight league games and claimed a highly credible five victories.

Tottenham have been difficult to beat on their travels of late, as they have lost one of their previous five away matches in the English top-flight.

Conclusion

Leicester are still vastly under strength, with several of their star performers missing. Tottenham may be missing Heung-Min Son, but they still have immense quality in the likes of Harry Kane and Lucas Moura.

We are backing the away win, as we think that Conte’s team will have enough to see off the Foxes. We are also backing under 2.5 goals scored. Both teams are missing attacking players and Spurs’ last four away matches in the league have produced under 2.5 goals.

Our Tips: We are backing the away win at odds of 13/10 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at evens. (All odds are taken from Bet356)
