Prediction and odds for the game: Nottingham Forest (9/1) vs Liverpool (2/7)

We are backing Luis Diaz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/10

When: Sunday 20 March 2022, Kick-off 18:00

Where: The City Ground

On Sunday evening, Nottingham Forest hosts Liverpool at the City Ground in one of the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Nottingham Forest

The Tricky Trees are in the fight for the Championship play-offs this season. Steve Cooper’s team is a point outside the top-six after mounting a positive recent run.

Forest are unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions, having recorded six wins and three draws in the process. The main reason for their recent good results is their attacking prowess, as the men from the Midlands have scored at least two goals in seven of those nine unbeaten games.

Midfielder Ryan Yates has played a big part in Forest’s attacking play of late, as the 25-year-old has now scored the home team’s last four matches.

Forest have also scored at least two goals in their last two FA Cup games, beating Leicester City 4-1 and Huddersfield Town 2-1 in the last round of the competition. They kicked off their campaign in the competition with an impressive 1-0 win over Arsenal.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s team are aiming for a clean sweep of trophies this season after already winning the Carabao Cup this season. In current form, that possibility cannot be ruled out.

The visitors head into this game on the back of just one defeat in 18 matches in all competitions, which was against reigning Italian champions Inter in the last-16 of the Champions League.

The Merseyside outfit has been superb in defence, keeping clean sheets in five of their previous seven games in all matches, conceding just two goals in the process. However, the Reds head into this game without first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is sidelined through a hamstring injury. The England international may not have started anyway, as Klopp has rotated his squad in the previous rounds.

Liverpool have had a simple journey to the FA Cup quarter-finals, with Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City and Norwich City, scoring at least two goals in each of the wins.

In fact, the visitors have been prolific in the FA Cup in recent seasons, having now scored in each of their last five matches in the competition dating back to last season.

Conclusion

Both teams have bigger priorities in the next few months, although as previously stated the visitors are looking to win all the trophies available. Forest have caused top-flight opposition problems in this season’s competition, but Liverpool looks to have the sort of momentum that is difficult to stop.

The Liverpool win offers no value. Instead, we are looking at the scoring markets for our bets. We are backing both teams to score, as although Liverpool have been strong defensively of late, Forest have also been potent in attack in recent games. The other bet we are backing is Luis Diaz to be an anytime goalscorer, as the Colombian has been in good form of late.

Our Tips: we are backing Luis Diaz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/10 and/or both teams to score at odds of 19/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
