Prediction and odds for the game: Aston Villa (6/1) vs Liverpool (4/9)

We are backing draw/Liverpool at odds of 10/3

When: Tuesday 10 May 2022, Kick-off 20:00

Where: Villa Park

On Tuesday night, Aston Villa hosts Liverpool at Villa Park, as the visitors look to strengthen their bid for the Premier League title with time running out in the season.

Aston Villa

Last time out, Steven Gerrard’s team recorded a 3-1 win at Burnley to make it three games unbeaten in the Premier League. The recent run of solid league form has secured their top-flight status with four games remaining. A top-half finish in the English top-flight cannot be ruled out though.

The win over Burnley continued a run of relatively high-scoring games for Villa in recent months, as six of their last nine league games have produced over 2.5 goals. However, the game saw a mini-run of two straight Premier League clean sheets end.

Gerrard’s team has been poor on home soil of late in the English top-flight, as they have won just two of their last eight league matches at Villa Park. However, one of those two wins came in their last home game in the Premier League against rock-bottom Norwich.

Liverpool

The race for the Premier League title took a slight twist last weekend, as Tottenham came to Anfield and held Jurgen Klopp’s team to a 1-1 draw. Although it was not a defeat, the draw seemed to hit everybody at the Merseyside club hard.

The Reds are still only three points behind league leaders Manchester City. However, the Citizens now have a superior goal difference after their weekend 5-0 home demolition of West Ham.

Despite the perceived disappointment of a draw against Tottenham, Liverpool are still 16 games unbeaten in the Premier League, having recorded an impressive 13 victories in the run. The draw with Tottenham ended a run of three straight clean sheets for Klopp’s team in the English top-flight.

Liverpool have been strong on their travels in the Premier League of late, as they are unbeaten in seven away matches in the English top-flight, having recorded five wins in the process.

The Reds have also been potent on their travels in the English top-flight, scoring at least two goals in five of their last seven away games in the league. At the other end of the pitch, Klopp’s team has also kept four clean sheets in five Premier League matches on their travels.

Conclusion

Villa seems to be full of confidence after their comfortable win at relegation-threatened Burnley last time out. Steven Gerrard faces his former team and knows his team could well damage the Reds title challenge.

However, we believe Liverpool will bounce back from that draw against Spurs by recording a victory. Villa may stay in the game for a while, though, so we are backing draw/Liverpool, with Klopp’s team coming out on top in the end. The other bet we are backing is Luis Diaz to be an anytime goalscorer, as the Colombian scored the equaliser against Tottenham and has looked like a major attacking threat for Liverpool in recent matches.

Our Tips: We are backing draw/Liverpool at odds of 10/3 and/or Luis Diaz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/8. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
