Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (10/11) vs Crystal Palace (10/3)

We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5

When: Thursday 19 May 2022, Kick-off 19:45

Where: Goodison Park

On Thursday night, Everton hosts Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, in what could be a massive game for the Toffees survival hopes in the Premier League.

Everton

The Toffees know that the scenario is very simple for them at the moment. If they win this game then they beat the drop and will be playing top-flight football next season. However, anything less than a win and they are in for a very nervous final game of the season at Arsenal on matchday 38.

Last time out the Toffees suffered a controversial 3-2 home defeat against Brentford. Frank Lampard’s team had two players dismissed in Jarrad Branthwaite and Salomon Rondon. However, the official made two highly questionable calls in two other major incidents.

The defeat ended a four-game unbeaten run at Goodison Park for Everton in the Premier League.

The men from Merseyside will be hoping that some of the walking wounded are back from injury for this clash. Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Fabian Delph all missed out last time out. Keane is the most likely to figure in this clash out of the quartet.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles have experienced an encouraging first season under head coach Patrick Vieira. The visitors kick off this game 13th place in the English top-flight table, but could realistic still achieve a top-half finish this season. After such a summer of turmoil and upheaval, a top-ten finish would have to be judged a success for Vieira and his players.

A 1-1 draw against Aston Villa last time out means that Palace are unbeaten in four Premier League games. However, they have also won just two of their previous seven matches in the English top flight.

Palace’s recent away form in the English top-flight has been inconsistent. A record of three wins from their last 13 league matches on their travels is a poor one.

The Eagles have won their last two meetings with Everton. However, the wins are their only victories over the Toffees in 15 meetings in all competitions. They will see this game as a good opportunity for a third straight victory over the men from Merseyside.

Conclusion

Everton are desperate for a victory to aid their survival hopes. A lengthy injury list and some questionable officiating against them have certainly not helped their survival hopes. Palace has a little less motivation to win this game, but as they showed earlier in the season, they can match Everton, especially a patched-up Toffees team.

We think this could be a cagey, low-scoring encounter. So, we are backing the draw and under 2.5 goals scored in this clash.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
