Manchester United will attempt to get back on track in the Premier League when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

Manchester United (3/5)

Manchester United have been living dangerously this season when it comes to securing the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with a series of less than impressive results which have highlighted the deficiencies within this squad. While they certainly have some individual talent, actually being able to piece that together is the problem. There’s no real cohesion and as a result, the fans have aligned themselves with the idea that United are no longer a top club within the realms of English football.

While consistency isn’t exactly a word you’d use to describe United this season, they’ve found a bit more success than usual in recent weeks. They secured back to back wins over Partizan in the Europa League, beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, and also beat Norwich 3-1 in the Premier League. They managed to draw 1-1 against rivals Liverpool, with their only negative result being a 1-0 loss at the hands of Bournemouth.

Brighton (11/2)

Brighton & Hove Albion have made a strong start to life under Graham Potter this season and while they aren’t exactly being tipped for a place in the top six, they’re putting the right pieces in place to make a serious run at the top half. They seem to fight for one another which is the biggest trait in their favour, and it’s also one of the reasons why they’ve got such a loyal fanbase. In a game like this against one of the worst United teams in years, they’ll have nothing to lose.

Brighton will be glad to see the back of Aston Villa for a few months, though, after they lost games to the Midlands side in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League. They were also beaten by Chelsea, but immediately after that, they managed to stun a lot of people by dismantling Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. In their last two games, they’ve enjoyed success over Everton and Norwich to take them up into eighth.

Conclusion

A game at home to a team like Brighton would’ve been viewed as a guaranteed win for Manchester United back in the day, but it no longer seems as if that’s the case. With that being said we do expect the Red Devils to edge themselves past the Seagulls and secure the three points, even if it’s a bit of a slog. They’ve got all the potential in the world within this squad and they just need that one result to really push them on, and while it may not be a convincing one, we do expect them to get the job done.

Entertainment in a Manchester United game isn’t exactly a guarantee one way or another, and for that reason, we’re going with the odds by suggesting it’ll go for under 2.5 goals.

Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 3/5 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from bet365).
