Prediction and odds for the game: Inter (17/20) v Roma (3/1)

We are boring and backing the home win.

When: Friday 06th December 2019, kick-off 7:45 PM

Where: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

On Friday night, Inter host Roma at the Giuseppe Meazza, in arguably the biggest game of the weekend in the Italian top-flight.

Inter

The men from Milan have impressed this season under highly-rated head coach Antonio Conte. In fact, the Nerazzurri have won 12 of their 14 Serie A matches suffering just one defeat.

Their good form means that Conte’s team are currently a point ahead of reigning champions Juventus in the race for the Scudetto. Another win would pile the pressure on the team from Turin, who ironically face Roma’s city neighbours Lazio in the capital this weekend.

Inter have been superb in attack this season, with only Lazio in the Italian top-flight scoring more goals than the home side. The scoring form of strike-pair Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku has played a big role in their team’s free-scoring ways this season, as the pair have eight and ten goals respectively in the Italian top-flight.

The Nerazzurri have a pretty good recent home record in Serie A, as they have won seven of their last nine matches at the Giuseppe Meazza in the Italian top-flight.

One negative for Inter against Roma is that they have only beaten the team the capital in one of the last seven meetings in all competitions. On current form, you would not back against Conte’s team improving that poor record.

Roma

The Giallorossi are enjoying a decent campaign under Portuguese boss Paulo Fonseca. They are fifth place in the table but are nine points behind their hosts. The Scudetto was not their aim at the beginning of the season, though, as qualifying for Europe was their likely objective.

The visitor’s form of late has been strong, as the Giallorossi has won five of their last six Serie A games, including last time out when they saw off Verona 3-1. Fonseca’s team have been entertaining going forward, scoring at least twice in four of those recent five wins in the Italian top-flight. Their efforts in front of goal have led to over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six league games.

Roma’s recent away record in the Italian top-flight is decent, as they have won four of their last six matches on their travels while losing just once.

Conclusion

This game could be a challenging one for Inter. However, these are the sort of games they need to win if they are to win the Scudetto this season. Despite their relatively decent recent record against the home side, it is a game Roma could have done without because they have built up some decent momentum.

We are backing Inter to continue their good recent form and record a victory on Friday night. They are in the sort of form where they will be hard to stop. Both teams have been prolific of late, so we are also backing the over 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 17/20 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
