Prediction and odds for the game: Aston Villa (10/3) v Leicester (8/11)

We are backing the away win

When: Tuesday 28th January 2020, Kick-off 7:45 PM

Where: Villa Park

On Tuesday night, Midlands rivals Aston Villa and Leicester go head-to-head at Villa Park in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg. The first leg finished 1-1 at the King Power, so it is all to play for in this clash.

Aston Villa

The obvious priority for Aston Villa this season is securing their position in the Premier League. However, the Villans are now in with a big chance of making it to Wembley for a final of a domestic cup competition. No matter what is said about the league cup, the fans would still love a cup final appearance.

Villa will be happy with the draw in the first leg. It kept the home side in with a chance of booking their place in the final.

A 2-1 home win over relegation rivals Watford last time out will also have lifted spirits amongst everybody at the club. The win over the Hornets ended a four-game winless streak in all competitions.

Villa have to improve their consistency at home to survive the drop and to get past their Midlands rivals in this clash. Dean Smith’s team has won four and lost four of their last eight matches at Villa Park in all competitions.

Leicester

The Foxes have undoubtedly enjoyed a strong campaign this season in the Premier League. However, the visitor’s recent form has dipped in recent weeks.

Two straight wins over West Ham in the top-flight and a 1-0 FA Cup win over Brentford last time out seem to have got Brendan Rodgers’ team back on track. The victory at Griffin Park saw the Foxes pick up their first clean sheet in their last five competitive games. Another clean sheet would certainly aid Leicester’s chances of progressing past their rivals.

Another factor that may help the Foxes in this clash is the potential return from injury of former England striker Jamie Vardy. The 33-year-old is expected to return from a glute problem.

One thing that has not changed for the visitors, despite their recent inconsistent form is good results on their travels. In fact, the Foxes have won three of their last four away games in all competitions. The fact that the team has kept two clean sheets in their last three matches has certainly been a factor those possible results on their travels.

Conclusion

Leicester are favourites to win this clash and book their place at Wembley. We are backing Brendan Rodgers side to pull off the victory. The other bet we are backing is the over 2.5 goals, as Leicester are potent in attack and Villa have looked very shaky in defence all season long.

Verdict: We are backing the away win at odds of 8/11 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/7. (All odds are taken from Bet365.
