Prediction and odds for the game: Liverpool (2/9) v Bournemouth (11/1)

Both teams to score at evens

When: Saturday 7th March 2020, Kick-off 12:30

Where: Anfield

In the Premier League’s early kick-off, runaway leaders Liverpool host Bournemouth at Anfield, as the Reds look to move a step closer to ending their 30-year title drought.

Liverpool

It has been a strange few weeks for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s team head into this seemingly easy game against relegation-threatened Bournemouth on the back of three defeats in their last four games in all competitions. Slightly worryingly for the home side, they have failed to score in all three defeats, which is unlikely the Merseysider’s under their current boss.

Last time out, they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup. In their last league match, Watford hammered the league leaders 3-0 at Vicarage Road to end their 44-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Despite that poor recent run of form, Liverpool’s home record has remained formidable in the English top-flight. In fact, the Reds have won their last 21 league matches at Anfield. They are also unbeaten in 54 Premier League games on home soil. Their last home defeat in the league was way back in April 2017.

Bournemouth

The Cherries have experienced an underwhelming Premier League campaign and currently find themselves in the relegation zone on goal difference.

Under Eddie Howe, the visitors have become renowned for attacking football. However, they have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season, with only three teams scoring fewer goals than the visitors. While they have managed to find the net in four of their last five league matches, they have failed to win in three Premier League matches, suffering two defeats in the process. Last time out, the Cherries drew 2-2 with Chelsea at the Vitality Stadium.

Howe’s team have been awful on their travels of late in the Premier League. A record of nine defeats from their last 11 games away from home in the English top-flight. A lack of goals has been a major concern for the Cherries away from the south coast, as they have scored just two goals in their last seven away matches.

Bournemouth have a woeful record against Liverpool, as they have won just once in 12 meetings with the Merseysider’s while suffering ten defeats.

Conclusion

Liverpool are definitely at a low ebb at the minute, as their form has dipped alarmingly in the last few weeks. However, they are a winning machine at Anfield and should come out on top in this clash. Bournemouth may have struggled for goals of late, but they showed signs of recovery against Chelsea, which is why we are backing both teams to score.

Verdict: We are backing both teams to score at evens and the home win at odds of 2/9. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
