Prediction and odds for the game: Bayer Leverkusen (4/5) v Wolfsburg (10/3)

We are backing the home win

When: Tuesday, 26th May 2020, Kick-off 19:30

Where: The BayArena

On Tuesday night, Bayer Leverkusen host Wolfsburg at the BayArena, as both teams look to further their chances of European qualification in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen

The home side head into this potentially vital clash in third spot in the Bundesliga. At the time of writing Peter Bosz’s team are a point clear of fourth-place Monchengladbach and two ahead of fifth-place RB Leipzig in the race for Champion s League qualification. A 2-1 win at rivals Monchengladbach on Saturday could prove to be an important one in the race for the top-four spots. The victory means that Bayer have won six of their last seven Bundesliga matches, having scored at least twice in all six victories.

Highly-rated attacking midfielder Kai Havertz has hot form since the break, scoring four times in his last two league outings. The youngster now has ten league goals for the season. He has thrived in a false number nine role in recent matches.

Bayer’s recent form at the BayArena has been highly impressive, as they have won five of their last six home games in the Bundesliga, whilst scoring at least twice in all five wins. A record of three clean sheets in their last four home league games is also a positive for Bosz’s team.

Wolfsburg

The Wolves suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Dortmund last time out. The defeat ended a seven-game undefeated run in the German top-flight for Oliver Glasner’s side. Before Sunday’s games, the visitors were still in the European spots. However, seventh-place Schalke could move above the Wolves with a win over Augsburg in the early kick-off on Sunday.

The loss against BVB last time out means that Glasner’s team have won three of their last seven matches in the German top-flight. Their recent Bundesliga outings have been relatively high-scoring affairs, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last ten league matches.

One big positive for Wolfsburg heading to Leverkusen is their recent away record. The visitors are undefeated in four matches on their travels, having recorded three victories.

The Wolves have also scored at least twice in all four of their undefeated away matches in the German top-flight. Their recent attacking performances have contributed to their last five league games on the road producing over 2.5 goals.

Conclusion

Wolfsburg looked slightly lacklustre against Dortmund last time out, while Bayer looked impressive at Gladbach. We are backing the home side to record another victory and continue their impressive recent run of form. The other bet we are backing is Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer, as he is in red hot form of late.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 4/5 and/or Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 23/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
