Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (8/15) vs West Ham (9/2)

We are backing Willian as an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8

When: Saturday, 19th September 2020, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Saturday night, Arsenal host West Ham at the Emirates Stadium, as the home side looks to win a second straight capital derby.

Arsenal

The Gunners kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win at London rivals Fulham, who endured a difficult return to the top-flight. Brazilian pair Gabriel and Willian both impressed on their debut, with the latter picking up three assists.

The team from north London have now won six of their last nine matches in the Premier League while scoring at least two goals in three of their last four matches in the English top-flight. Their scoring prowess has contributed to four of their last five league games producing at least two goals.

Arsenal finished last season’s Premier League campaign on home soil in the Premier League. The Gunners are unbeaten in nine home games, having recorded seven wins in the top-flight at the Emirates Stadium. The team from north London were high-scoring on home soil in the English top-flight, scoring at least two goals in five of their previous seven matches.

The home team has suffered just one defeat in the last ten meetings with West Ham. Mikel Arteta’s team will fancy their chances of maintaining that good record.

West Ham

The Hammers seem to be one of the clubs in early-season crisis. There was a toxic atmosphere before the beginning of the season. A 2-0 opening home weekend defeat against Newcastle only added to the seeming gloom surrounding the club from the capital. The defeat means that the Irons have won just three times in their last 11 Premier League games. They will need to go much better this season to avoid another relegation dogfight.

West Ham’s recent top-flight games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last 11 top-flight outings.

David Moyes’ team have a mixed recent away record in the Premier League. They are three league games unbeaten on their travels in the English top-flight. However, the Hammers have recorded just one away win in their last ten matches on the road. The Hammers have lost on their last five trips to the Emirates Stadium and have their work cut out to change that in this clash.

Conclusion

It is highly difficult to see anything other than a home win in this clash. However, that looks to offer little to no value in this clash. We are looking at the goals market for the bets we are backing. The first bet we are going with is Willian to be an anytime goalscorer. The Brazilian was one of the Gunners best attacking players last time out and is on set-pieces. The other bet we going with is over 2.5 goals scored, simply because the home side looked so dangerous going forward last time out and West Ham are not exactly solid in defence either.

Verdict: We are backing Willian to be an anytime scorer at odds of 15/8 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
