Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (10/11) v Leicester (14/5)

We are backing the home win

When: Sunday, 25th October 2020, Kick-off 19:15

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Sunday night, Arsenal and Leicester go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium, in what could be a fascinating tactical battle in the Premier League.

Arsenal

The Gunners have experienced a mixed top-flight campaign so far this season. A 1-0 defeat in their last Premier League outing against Manchester City means that Mikel Arteta’s team has the rather unimpressive record of three victories and two defeats this season. However, there has been mitigating circumstances to those defeats in the fact they came at reigning champions Liverpool and former champions Manchester City.

The fact that both defeats have come on their travels and the wins on home soil will come as little surprise, as the team from north London have not been great away from the English capital in recent seasons.

However, their recent home form has been good of late in the English top-flight, as the Gunners are undefeated in their previous 11 league games at the Emirates Stadium. Arteta’s team have also claimed four straight home wins in the Premier League, having managed to score at least twice in all the wins.

Leicester were the last team to prevent Arsenal claiming a home win in the Premier League back in July. They were also the last team to restrict Arsenal to fewer than two goals scored.

Leicester

This season has been something of a roller-coaster ride in the Premier League for the Foxes. Brendan Rodgers team recorded wins in their first three top-flight games of the campaign, only to suffer two consecutive home defeats against West Ham and Aston Villa. However, the team from the Midlands bounced back to winning ways in the Europa League on Thursday by recording a 3-0 home win over Zorya.

The team’s stellar start to the Premier League campaign had some rather prematurely thinking back to the Foxes shock title triumph in 2016. However, those recent defeats have brought everybody back down to earth.

The Foxes have won their previous two Premier League matches on their travels, beating West Brom 3-0 and Manchester City 5-2. The win over the Baggies ended an eight-game winless run away from home in the English top-flight for Leicester.

Star striker Jamie Vardy missed the Foxes last top-flight game and is still a doubt for the visitors. The 33-year-old has already scored five times this season. If he plays he will be hard to stop for a much improved Arsenal defence this season.

Conclusion

Arsenal have been strong at home for a long time. The Emirates Stadium is a difficult place for opposition teams to visit. Whether Vardy plays or not could be a big factor in how this game turns out. However, we are backing the home win and we are also backing both teams to score, especially if Vardy features.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 10/11 and/or both teams to score at odds of 4/6 (All odds are taken from Bet365)
