Prediction & odds for the game: Leeds (7/10) v Burnley (15/4) – ST is backing the away win

When: Sunday, 27th December @ 12pm K.O

Where: Elland Road

Leeds United and Burnley will meet in the Premier League this weekend as both attempt to build some momentum heading into 2021.

Leeds

Leeds United possess the ability to infuriate and excite fans across the world and with the Premier League being as unpredictable as it is his season, that’s a trend that isn’t likely to change anytime soon. Marcelo Bielsa has so often been hailed as a hero in Yorkshire and while nobody is going to dispute the achievements that he’s had, the next step for this Leeds team is for them to prove that they can mix it up in the top half – but they have to do it through consistency.

The 0-0 draw against Arsenal didn’t really do justice for Leeds and the way they played, but the wins over Everton and Newcastle certainly did. Unfortunately, with all those positives come the overwhelming negatives, and they exemplified that in defeats to West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester United, conceding 11 goals across those three games.

Burnley

Just when you think Burnley are slipping into another relegation battle, they win a few games and remind everyone that their experience and tenacity can take them through a handful of difficult situations. They can’t start celebrating yet as there is a long season ahead, but they’ve got to take confidence from the fact that they are proving people wrong every single time they go out there and play.

The major defeat for Burnley in recent weeks came at the end of November when they were put to the sword by Manchester City. Aside from that, though, they’ve looked pretty good. They beat Crystal Palace, they beat Arsenal and they even beat Wolves – with strong draws against Aston Villa and Everton thrown in there for good measure.

Conclusion

Leeds have the sort of flair necessary to cause many teams problems, but we think this’ll go in the direction of their loss to Wolves. Burnley will soak up the pressure as and when it comes, they’ll hit them on the counter attack and they’ll be able to keep their recent run of form going. Leeds probably aren’t going to be relegated this season, but in games like this, the Bielsa effect isn’t going to match up to the sort of style that Sean Dyche has implemented within the Clarets.

Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 1-0 Burnley, ensuring we stick to the under 2.5 goals market – but that doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be somewhat entertaining.

Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 15/4 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/8 (All odds are taken from bet365).
