Prediction & odds for the game: Wolves (12/5) v Tottenham (6/5) – ST is backing the away win

When: Sunday, 27th December @ 7.15pm K.O

Where: Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur will meet at Molineux this Sunday as they attempt to build momentum heading into 2021.

Wolves

The rollercoaster ride of a season that Wolverhampton Wanderers are enduring continues to throw up some surprises, but it doesn’t seem as if the supporters have lost faith in Nuno Espirito Santo just yet. He’s still the man who has been able to bring them so many great memories over the course of the last few years, and as we look ahead to the future, there’s every reason to believe that he can rebuild them in a new light.

Positive results haven’t been in short supply for Wolves, though, with a draw against Southampton and wins over Arsenal & Chelsea under their belt in recent weeks. They have slipped up, however, dropping disappointing losses to Liverpool, Aston Villa and Burnley.

Tottenham

After being well on their way to a legitimate title push, a few poor results have left Tottenham Hotspur fans wondering what sort of direction the club is going to go in this season. They clearly have a style that is unique to their manager and there’s nothing wrong with that, but if they can’t get back on the right footing, they could begin to slip further and further down the table – such is the relentless nature of this league.

Tottenham were moving along quite nicely with wins over Arsenal and Antwerp at the start of the month, but a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace appeared to knock them completely off their game. They were then beaten by Liverpool in a huge top of the table clash, they lost 2-0 to Leicester, and they didn’t exactly wow fans in a 3-1 Carabao Cup success against Championship side Stoke.

Conclusion

While we do think Wolves are capable of really getting at Tottenham, we just think Jose Mourinho is going to have the answer at Molineux – just as he has done before. It’s going to be a competitive game but Wolves are probably going to be the ones chasing it and we would argue that’s not the strongest position for them to be in. Therefore, we’re backing Spurs to get back on track with a really important victory at Molineux.

Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 2-1, ensuring we hit the over 2.5 goals bracket. We’re expecting this to be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend and even though that might seem like a stretch, there’s always some level of drama when these two square off.

Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 6/5 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5 (All odds are taken from bet365).
