Prediction & odds for the game: Burnley (6/1) v Manchester United (4/9) – ST is backing the away win

When: Tuesday, 12th January @ 8.15pm K.O

Where: Turf Moor

Manchester United will try and keep their Premier League title push going strong when they make the short trip to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday.

Burnley

From relegation favourites to potential top half challengers, Burnley are once again enjoying the benefits of the consistency that Sean Dyche as manager brings. They aren’t going to be favoured to win any trophies anytime soon but that isn’t really the point. Their fans want to see them thrive but they also want to see great football and in the top flight, that’s always going to be a hard balance to strike – especially for a club that is known for being the underdogs.

Scraping through against MK Dons in the FA Cup and losing to Leeds didn’t represent the best of what Burnley have to offer, but aside from that, they’ve looked pretty good in recent weeks. They beat Arsenal, Wolves and Sheffield United with a competitive draw against Aston Villa thrown in there for good measure.

Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn’t always been viewed as a top manager and the jury is still out for some, but the results are starting to flood in and they’re looking pretty good. The idea that they can maintain this pace between now and the end of the season may be something of a stretch, but nobody can know that for sure. Manchester United were the kings of the castle for so long in England and the worry seems to be that they aren’t too far away from making that a reality once again.

The loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup was disappointing but not exactly surprising, and it came after a really strong run of form from United. They beat Everton, Wolves and Aston Villa, they fought to a draw against fellow top four challengers Leicester, and they beat Watford last night to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Conclusion

This is going to be an incredibly tactical affair with United doing everything they can to break down a very, very resolute Burnley side. While there is still an awful lot of work to be done before the visitors can be viewed as bonafide title contenders again, we do think they’ve got what it takes to steal this game away from the Clarets. It’s going to be tough and there may be a few niggles involved, but they should be able to secure the win at Turf Moor.

Our official scoreline prediction is a late goal to make it 1-0 Manchester United, ensuring we stick to the under 2.5 goals market.

Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 4/9 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10 (All odds are taken from bet365).
