Prediction and odds for the game: Wolves (29/20) vs Everton (2/1)
We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5
When: Tuesday, 12th January 2020, Kick-off 20:15
Where: Molineux Stadium
On Tuesday night, Wolves and Everton go head-to-head at Molineux Stadium, as both teams look for valuable Premier League points.
The home side has experienced a mixed campaign by the standards of recent campaigns. Last time out Nuno Espirito Santo’s team booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The win will lift the spirits within the Midlands club after a run of four games without a victory. In their last Premier League outing struggling Brighton held them to a 3-3 at the AMEX Stadium. In fact, the result on the south coast means that Wolves have won just one of their previous seven league matches.
The home side do not have a great recent home record in the Premier League, winning just three of their last eight top-flight matches at Molineux. The fact that Wolves have kept just one clean sheet in their last six league games on home soil is a factor in their underwhelming home results.
Like the home team, Everton made it through to the fourth round of the FA Cup. However, a slightly under-strength Toffees team needed extra-time to secure a 2-1 win over struggling Championship outfit Rotherham.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team has suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at home against West Ham in their last top-flight outing. The defeat ended a four-game winning run for the Merseysider’s in the Premier League.
The top of the table is so congested, though, and despite the defeat against the Hammers, the visitors are only out of the Champions League spots on goal difference. They also trail city-rivals and league leaders Liverpool by just four points. A win here could be a pivotal one, especially after underwhelming showing in their last two outings.
Everton are unbeaten in four away games in the Premier League, having recorded three victories in the process. The Toffees have failed to score in just one of their last nine away matches in the English top-flight.
Toffees boss Ancelotti made several changes to his starting line-up for the win over Rotherham. Forward pair Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both enjoyed a rest, while the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Yerry Mina only made cameos from the bench.
James Rodriguez and Lucas Digne both played against the Yorkshire outfit to build up their fitness after injuries. The Toffees only likely absentees through injury are midfielders, Allan and Fabian Delph.
Wolves are in poor form, but the win over Palace may give them some impetus going into this game. Everton have not been at their best of late, but they are slowly seeing their injured stars returning to first-team action. We don’t think it will be enough for a victory, but that the game will finish in a draw.
We believe this game may well be a tight and relatively low-scoring game, so we are also backing under 2.5 goals scored.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/13. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
