Prediction and odds for the game: Fulham (3/1) vs Tottenham (10/11)

We are backing the away win

When: Thursday, 4th March 2021, Kick-off 18:00

Where: Craven Cottage

On Thursday evening, Fulham host Tottenham at Craven Cottage, in a London derby that could be pivotal in both the fight for survival and the race for the European spots in the Premier League.

Fulham

The Cottagers have given themselves a fighting chance of survival with a decent recent run of form in the Premier League of late. Scott Parker’s team are now unbeaten in their first five league games, although only two of those matches see the home side pick up maximum points.

A big improvement in their defensive displays has made a major difference to the Cottagers results. They have now kept clean sheets in four of their previous five top-flight outings. Last time out they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The recent revival has not moved Fulham out of the relegation places, but they are now just three points behind 17th place Newcastle in the table.

Fulham have taken four points from their last two league games at Craven Cottage. However, on the flip-side, they have also won just one of their last nine league games on home soil in the English top-flight.

Tottenham

The team from north London ended a poor recent run of league form last time out by recording a 4-0 home win against Burnley. The win was inspired by Real Madrid loanee Gareth Bale. The Welsh international scored twice and also produced a superb assist for a Harry Kane effort. The 31-year-old injected some much-needed incisiveness into a Spurs attack that had been strangely subdued of late. The victory was only their second in seven Premier League outings.

The win did little to lift Spurs up the table and Jose Mourinho’s team is still four points adrift of the top-six, which would likely be enough for European football for next season.

One factor in their recent woes has been poor away form, as the visitors have won just one of their last eight away games in the English top-flight. They have also suffered three straight away defeats in the Premier League at Brighton, Manchester City and West Ham.

However, one positive for Spurs is their recent record against Fulham, as they are unbeaten against the Cottagers in their last six meetings, having recorded five wins.

Conclusion

Fulham have been difficult to beat of late, while Tottenham’s form has been underwhelming. However, Spurs showed signs that of what they can do when everybody is firing and Bale is at the top of his game. Mourinho let the handbrake off against Burnley and Spurs shone. We are backing Spurs to record another victory while backing Bale to be an anytime goalscorer, as he looked like he is back to full fitness against the Clarets.

Verdict: We are backing the away win at odds of 10/11 and/or Gareth bale to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 2/1. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
