Prediction & odds for the game: Liverpool (2/5) v Aston Villa (13/2) – ST is backing the home win
When: Sunday, 7th March @ 2pm K.O
Liverpool will try to get their poor Premier League campaign back on track when they host relegation-threatened Fulham this weekend.
Liverpool have lost five consecutive games at Anfield and they’ll be attempting to avoid making it six on Sunday – which just seems like a really bizarre sentence to say. This club was absolutely unstoppable once upon a time but they’ve fallen so quickly and so dramatically that it’s almost hard to believe. The Reds have the fanbase behind them to do great things but between a lack of confidence and multiple injuries, they haven’t been able to live up to their full potential.
Since February 7th, Liverpool have lost to Manchester City, Leicester, Everton and Chelsea in the Premier League. They did manage to beat Leipzig and Sheffield United, but those two victories seem like distant memories right now.
While VAR may be at the heart of Fulham Football Club’s frustrations right now, they have to try their best to focus on the task at hand – survival. Given the form of those above them it’s still very feasible to think they could pull themselves out of the madness and into the light, even if it may not seem like it. Scott Parker is hungry to keep this club in the top flight of English football and we’re interested to see whether or not he can pull it off.
Up until the controversial defeat to Tottenham during the week, Fulham were actually on a steady run of form. They drew with West Ham, beat Everton, drew with Burnley, beat Sheffield United and then played out another goalless draw – this time to Crystal Palace. Sure, they may not be blowing teams away, but they’re solid at the back and they’re slowly creeping up on the likes of Burnley and Newcastle.
It doesn’t seem overly plausible to think Fulham could give Liverpool problems in a normal environment – but this season has been anything but normal. The Cottagers are fighting for their lives and we really do think they’re going to give as good as they get here, even if they don’t pick up all three points. Our official prediction is going to be Liverpool edging out a narrow victory but trust us when we say that they aren’t going to blow the visitors out of the water.
In terms of the scoreline, we’re going to go with 1-0 Liverpool, ensuring we stick to the under 2.5 goals marker – but don’t think there isn’t going to be drama, because there is.
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 2/5 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10 (All odds are taken from bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
