Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (1/5) vs West Brom (14/1)

We are backing Mason mount to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/8

When: Saturday, 3rd April 2021, Kick-off 12:30

Where: Stamford Bridge

In the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday, Chelsea host struggling West Brom at Stamford Bridge, as the home side look to consolidate their position in the Premier League’s Champions League spots.

Chelsea

The Blues performances have certainly improved under Thomas Tuchel and head into this game unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions under the former PSG head coach. A 2-0 win over Sheffield United in their last outing means that they have won four of their last five matches. The win over the Blades also gave Chelsea their seventh consecutive clean sheet in all competitions.

The home sides strong defensive displays have aided their bid for a top-four place, as the team from south west London are fourth-place. However, the Blues are just two points clear of fifth-place London rivals West Ham. Tuchel’s team need to keep winning with Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton also within touching distance.

Chelsea are unbeaten in five league outings at Stamford Bridge, having recorded three wins and two draws while keeping clean sheets in all five matches.

West Brom

The Baggies are ten points from safety and heading for a quick return to the Championship after just one season in the English top-flight. Sam Allardyce’s team has won just one of their last 11 matches in the Premier League. None of those wins have been in their last three league outings, as they are winless.

A 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace last time out means that West Brom’s last seven league games have all produced over 2.5 goals. The fact that the Baggies have scored just one goal in their last five league matches has certainly been a contributing factor in those low-scoring games.

One of West Brom’s main issues this season has been scoring goals, as only bottom club Sheffield United have scored fewer Premier League goals than the Baggies. The visitors top goalscorer this season is midfielder Matheus Pereira with just five goals in the English top-flight.

The visitors have struggled on their travels in the Premier League, as they have won just one of their 13 away games in the English top-flight, while also losing four of their last five away games. Unsurprisingly, considering their lack of goals of late, they have failed to score in three league matches on their travels.

Conclusion

Chelsea are major favourites to win this clash and we expect them to do just that. However, the home win offers little value, so we are backing Chelsea half-time/full-time. The other bet we are backing is form midfielder Mason Mount to be an anytime goalscorer, as the England star has looked dangerous for both club and country of late.

Verdict: We are backing Chelsea half-time/full-time at odds of 8/11 and/or Mason Mount to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 13/8. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
