Prediction and odds for the game: PSG (2/1) vs Bayern Munich (23/20
We are backing Thomas Muller to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 5/4
When: Tuesday, 13th April 2021, Kick-off 20:00
Where: The Parc des Princes
On Tuesday night, PSG and Bayern Munich go head-to-head at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League quarter-final second leg. The Parisians head into this second leg 3-2 up from the first leg in Munich.
The reigning French champions have been in good form of late. A weekend 4-1 win at Strasbourg last time out means that Thomas Tuchel’s team have won four of their last five games in all competitions. PSG have outstanding forwards in the shape of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. The former has been in excellent form, scoring seven goals in his last five appearances for the team from the French capital.
The French champions kept up their excellent Champions League record with the 3-2 win in the reverse fixture, as Tuchel’s are undefeated in six European outings, having recorded five victories in the process.
Despite their recent good record in Europe’s elite competition, PSG’s recent home form is inconsistent. Although they are unbeaten in three home games in Europe, the home side has won just two of their previous five outings at Parc des Princes.
The Bavarians followed up that first leg defeat with a surprise 1-1 home draw against Union Berlin in their last league outing. The draw maybe opens up the fight for the Bundesliga title. However, Bayern boss Hansi Flick’s chose to rotate his squad slightly in the game ahead of this difficult encounter.
The European champions will still feel confident of retaining their German top-flight title this season. Their hopes of retaining their European crown are slightly less hopeful after that first-leg defeat. It will certainly be a challenge for Bayern to turn things around in this tie.
The defeat came as a shock to the European champions, as they were 19 games unbeaten in Europe’s elite competition before the loss. The game did see Bayern continue their prolific scoring form in Europe, though, as Flick’s team has now scored at least two goals in two goals in eight of their previous nine matches.
The visitors will continue to be without goalscoring machine Robert Lewandowski, who is sidelined through injury. The 32-year-old was in line to break more scoring records in the Bundesliga, but it will be his absence from Tuesday’s game that may well prove to be the biggest blow.
This is such a hard game to call, as was the first leg. However, we are backing Bayern to record a victory. Whether it will be enough for progress to the semi-finals of the competition only time will tell. The other bet we are backing is Bayern’s Thomas Muller to be an anytime goalscorer. The veteran attacking midfielder scored in the first leg and has a habit of scoring important goals.
Verdict: We are backing the away win at odds of 23/20 and/or Thomas Muller to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 5/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
