Prediction & odds for the game: Leeds (7/2) v Liverpool (13/20) – ST is backing the away win
When: Monday, 19th April @ 8pm K.O
Where: Elland Road
Leeds United will try and keep their momentum going when they take on a Liverpool side desperate for a top four finish.
Leeds United have gone from top half hopefuls to an outside chance of crashing the European party and all things considered, we’d say that’s a pretty good few weeks of work from Marcelo Bielsa’s men. Their creative style is so entertaining to watch and they could have a really strong summer if they invest wisely. Of course, second season syndrome will be lingering above their heads, but now isn’t the time to be thinking about that.
In their last three outings Leeds have pretty much proven why they need to be taken seriously with victories over Fulham, Sheffield United and, arguably most impressively, Manchester City. They’ll come into this knowing that if they are capable of beating the champions-elect, they should have what it takes to at least cause Liverpool problems.
Everyone is well aware of the problems Liverpool Football Club needs to deal with and they also know how vital it’ll be for them to make it back into the top four. If they fail to do so then they could really struggle in the summer and beyond, and Jurgen Klopp is well aware of that. It’s going to be a fight to the finish but at least they can focus solely on the league now that their Champions League adventure has come to an end.
A late winner against Aston Villa set Liverpool up nicely for their second leg against Real Madrid, but an early miss from Mohamed Salah seemed to set the tone for a disappointing night at Anfield. The Reds pushed as hard as they possibly could but weren’t quite able to get over the finish line, although they can be proud of what they produced after letting themselves down in the first leg.
We may not get the kind of seven-goal thriller we saw back at the start of the season, but we still expect this to be a pretty exciting encounter between two of English football’s most entertaining teams. We expect Leeds to get in Liverpool’s face from the first minute and be there throughout, and we wouldn’t be at all shocked if they take the lead. Either way they’ll probably get a goal under their belt but the Reds are the ones who will come away with a victory.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 2-1 Liverpool, ensuring we hit the over 2.5 goals marker.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 13/20 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/15 (All odds are taken from bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
