Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (4/11) vs Sheffield United (15/2)

We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at evens

When: Sunday, 16th May 2021, Kick-off 19:00

Where: Goodison Park

On Sunday night, Everton host Sheffield United at Goodison Park, as the home side continue their challenge for a European place for next season.

Everton

Despite a poor recent run of form in the Premier League, Everton are still within touching distances of the top seven, which would bring European football for next season. In fact, they are only behind seventh-place Tottenham on goal difference, as well as being just two points behind sixth-place West Ham.

The Toffees head into this game on the back of just two wins from their last nine outings in the Premier League. On the flip side, they have also lost just once in the seven league games.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team have the third-best away record in the English top-flight, but it is their form at Goodison Park that has proven to be their biggest downfall. Incredibly, the men from Merseyside have won just once in their last ten games at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

In massive contrast to their defensive displays away from home, the Toffees have been poor at the back in defence, as they have conceded at least two goals in six of their last eight league matches on home soil. With the Blades struggling for goals, surely, they cannot continue that trend?

Sheffield United

The Blades have spent most of the season bottom of the table after making the worst start of any team in the history of the Premier League. The Yorkshire outfit has picked up just 17 points this season, having won just five league games all season. They have also lost seven of their last eight matches in the English top-flight.

One of their biggest failings this season has been finding the net, as the Blades have not been sharp at all scoring a measly 18 goals in their 35 league outings. At the other end of the pitch, only West Brom have conceded more goals than the Blades tally of 18.

As you can imagine their away record this season in the English top-flight has also been poor. They have lost 15 of their 17 league matches on their travels, including suffering seven straight losses on the road in the Premier League. Everton are woeful at home though, so they may feel like they have a chance of taking something from this clash.

Conclusion

Everton are a high frustrating team on home soil, but will surely end their poor home run against the bottom team. We are not backing the home win though, as it offers little value. We instead are backing Everton to be winning at half-time/full-time. The other recommendation we are making is for under 2.5 goals to be scored, as neither team has been high-scoring of late and this should be a low-scoring game.

Our verdict: We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at evens and/or Everton half-time/full-time at odds of 11/10. (All bets are taking from Bet365)
