Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester United (11/10) vs Tottenham (23/10)
We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5
When: Saturday 12 March 2022, Kick-off 17:30
Where: Old Trafford
On Saturday evening, Manchester United and Tottenham go head-to-head at Old Trafford, in what could be a massive game in the fight for the Premier League’s top-four.
In their last outing, the Red Devils went down to a 4-1 defeat at city rivals Manchester City. The defeat ended a run of nine games without a defeat in nine 90 minutes in all competitions. However, the loss also means that Ralf Rangnick’s team has failed to win any of their last three competitive outings.
The men from Manchester cannot afford many more slip-ups in the race for the last Champions League spot in the Premier League. They are currently fifth place in the table, a point behind fourth-place Arsenal, who have three games in hand on United.
United have a mixed recent record at Old Trafford in the Premier League of late, as although they have won just two of their previous five home matches, they have also won five of their last eight league games on home soil.
The Red Devils do have a good recent defensive record on home soil in the Premier League, as they have conceded just once in their last four matches.
Antonio Conte’s team look to finally be building some positive momentum. A 5-0 home walloping of Everton in their last outing means that the team from north London have won three of their last four matches in the Premier League.
Their recent positive form has kept Spurs in the hunt for a top-four place, as they are now just three points adrift of arch-rivals Arsenal, having played a game more than their fourth-placed rivals.
The visitors have certainly found their shooting boots of late in the English top-flight, as they have found the net at least three times in all those recent top-flight wins. Forward trio Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski have combined to devastating effect at times.
Kane has scored four times in his last four Premier League appearances, while Son has scored in his last two league appearances for the visitors.
Tottenham’s recent away record is slightly inconsistent in the English top-flight, although they have won four of their last six away matches in the Premier League.
Both teams will be desperate for three points in the fight for a top-four spot. However, this is a hard game to call. United tend to be solid at Old Trafford, even if they haven’t been that consistent of late. Despite the recent winning run, there is still a sense that Spurs are slightly unpredictable.
All that adds up to us predicting that this vital encounter will end in a draw. We also fancy Heung-Min Son to be an anytime goalscorer. The South Korean is looking to score in three straight league matches. We are backing him to do so at Old Trafford.
Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5 and/or Heung-Min Son to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 21/10/ (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
