Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (3/10) vs Newcastle (10/1)

We are backing Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/10

When: Sunday 13 March 2022, Kick-off 14:00

Where: Stamford Bridge

On Sunday afternoon, Chelsea host Newcastle at Stamford Bridge in a possibly fascinating Premier League encounter.

Chelsea

The Blues seem to be ticking along nicely on the pitch under highly-respected German head coach Thomas Tuchel. The team’s performance on the pitch is despite some extraordinary circumstances happening off the pitch at the club.

The head coach and players will continue to focus on winning games and securing Champions League football for next season.

The Blues look secure when it comes to finishing in the Champions League spot this season. Tuchel’s team is nine points clear of fifth-place Manchester United, with a game in hand on the Red Devils.

Chelsea recorded a 3-1 midweek victory at Norwich, which means that the Blues are 11 games unbeaten over 90 minutes in all competitions. The win was also the home side’s third straight competitive victory since their penalty kick defeat against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Tuchel’s team are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge. However, three of their last four league games on home soil have finished in draws.

Newcastle

The visitors have undergone a superb turnaround in fortunes, with new head coach Eddie Howe deserving of massive praise. The Magpies are undefeated in the Premier League in 2022, a run that stretches nine matches.

The good run of form has taken Newcastle out of the relegation zone and ten points clear of the relegation zone. They look relatively secure. Although 18th place Burnley have a game in hand on the north east team, it seems highly unlikely the Clarets will amass enough points to catch the Magpies.

A 2-1 win at Southampton last time out means that Newcastle have won six of their last seven league matches, including their last three games in the Premier League. A recent improvement in front of goal has been a big factor in their recent upturn in fortunes, as they have scored at least two goals in their last three league games.

Their recent good run of form has included a four-game unbeaten run on their travels in the Premier League, consisting of three wins and a draw. That is an incredible turnaround considering that their first away win of the season only came back in January with a victory at Leeds.

Conclusion

This is a clash between two in-form teams in the Premier League. Usually, it would be an easy one to predict as we would back the home win. However, the visitor’s recent form and the terrible odds available on the home win means we are staying away from the win market for this game.

Instead, we will to the goals market for our tips. The first bet we are backing is Chelsea’s Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer. The Germany international looks to have found form in recent weeks and scored last time out against Norwich. Our other recommendation is for over 2.5 goals to be scored. Both teams have been in good scoring form of late and this could be an entertaining clash with both teams free to express themselves.

Our Tips: We are backing Kai Havertz to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/10 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
