Where: The Etihad Stadium

On Sunday afternoon, Manchester City and Manchester United go head-to-head in a Manchester derby that has far more implications than just bragging rights.

Manchester City

The Citizens are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, although second-place Liverpool has a game in hand on the reigning champions. Their form has dipped slightly of late, but Pep Guardiola’s team has still managed to win six of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Last time out they recorded a 2-0 win in the FA Cup fifth round at Championship strugglers Peterborough. City have also won 15 of their last 17 matches in the Premier League. City have also kept clean sheets in three of their last four league matches.

A 3-2 defeat against Tottenham in their last home match in the Premier League ended a seven-game winning run in the league at the Etihad Stadium. The defeat saw the Citizens score at least two goals for the fourth time in five home matches in the English top-flight.

One negative for City of late is that they have won just one of their last six meetings with their city rivals. They have also suffered three straight home defeats against United.

Manchester United

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League, but four of those games have ended in draws. Last time out Ralf Rangnick’s team drew 0-0 at home against relegation-threatened Watford. The game followed a familiar low-scoring trend for United’s games of late, as five of their last six league matches have produced under 2.5 goals. That trend could change in this derby clash.

United’s recent league form has been good enough to lift them to fourth place in the table, two points clear of fifth-place West Ham in the race for the Champions League spots.

The Red Devils are seven games unbeaten on their travels in the Premier League. However, four of those seven unbeaten matches have finished in draws, which have rather hindered their chances of a top-four finish.

The visitors have struggled for clean sheets on their travels of late in the English top-flight, as they have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven away games in the league.

Conclusion

Manchester City have not been at their best of late. However, the Citizen’s slight dips in form are usually fleeting. Manchester United have been hard to beat of late, but they have also not been that convincing. This could be a close tight game, but we believe the home team will prevail in the end.

England midfielder Phil Foden has looked lively of late in the City attack. We are also backing the England midfielder to be an anytime goalscorer.

Our Tips: We are backing the Manchester City win at odds of 2/5 and/or Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
